Happy Easter

We had a great Easter this year. The Easter Bunny hid some eggs and gave each girl a movie and a book. Katie said "I was wishing for these!" which was adorable. She followed it up with "Is that all I get?" Following that, we enjoyed a breakfast that tasted alot like a lecture on being grateful for what you get topped with commentary on how I could give the books and movies to kids who didn't get anything from the Easter Bunny. Chad and I don't think of Easter as a gift giving holiday. Clearly, my kids didn't get that memo...or I need to take them to church more. Here are some Easter morning photos. They both had fun hunting for their eggs. Katie even re-hid the eggs. I spent most of the morning confused and saying "You missed one over here!" and Katie saying "Oh no, I hid that one."

Katie's OCD tendencies came out. She laid out these eggs and counted them a bunch of times.

We headed to the Vaudreuil's for the annual Easter Brunch. Once again, they knocked it out of the park. Yum! Here are some highlights.

Snack with a View

I enjoyed a nice view while having a quick snack before my 2pm meeting today. It's a beautiful day in Boston. This spot is right around the corner from the church were Chad and I were married.

Offcially Retired

We are officially retired from sitting on any mall Easter Bunny or Santa Claus' lap. We have one photo of each for both kids. We are done. I didn't even bother bringing Katie after she spotted the EB at an Easter Egg Hunt this morning. She freaked out. It's blurry but you can see Marin's reaction.

Dinner Rolls

We found the way to Marin's heart. Carbohydrates, specifically dinner roils and English muffins!

Cheesehead

Here is our Lil’ Cheesehead. The Reardons are fans of the Packers and gave this to Marin for her birthday. Since we root for the Patriots here on Cedar Street we gave this rational for allowing her to wear it. First- She looks so darn cute, how can you resist? Second- Chad said that if you are going to jump on a bandwagon, it might as well be with the Super Bowl champions. Third- Wisconsin is a state I’ve actually been to (three times) so I gave my approval. One visit was for a Milwaukee Brewers game and the next two were to go to the Wisconsin Dells to go skiing. Skiing in Wisconsin? Yes siree!

Katie's First Dentist Appointment

Here is Katie heading off to her first dentist appointment. We're either one or two years late with this appointment depending on who you ask. She was a little unsure but she said that since Dr. Pizzi rhymed with the Berenstein Bear's dentist Dr. Grizzly that it was ok to go. She was a rock star according to Chad who took her. Chad is a VERY good customer of Dr. P's so he went with her. Katie came back so excited to have met Marie the hygienist and Susan the office manager. I don't even think that Dr. Pizzi was there but it didn't seem to matter to Katie. She was wowed by the Bubble gum-flavored toothpaste she received as a parting gift. Unfortunately, due to the fact that Chad and I were indifferent to the benefits of fluoride and only considered the negatives of it, Katie has a soft spot on her teeth. She has to go back and may need it drilled out. EEK! The hygienist said that it could be based on the formation of the teeth and not the maintenance. Naturally as a mother I blame myself but I guess only time will tell if this is genetic or due to improper oral care.

Celebrating Marin!

Marin seems to really enjoy being THE BIG ONE. Here is a little bit about Marin these days. She weighs 18 lbs and is 29 inches long. She has the cutest, tiniest feet - a size 1 or 2 compared to the average 5. Marin is an avid crawler and likes to walk if we are there to hold her fingers. She loves to sit on her knees and play with her toys. She also likes to be on on her belly and inspect the dust under the couch! If she is tired, we'll find her laying with her head down on the floor. Marin can say a few words. Her favorite being Dada and Baba. She can say Mama and Nana too. If you ask her about the Dog or "WoofWoof" she make an "f" sound. She calls her Dad, her toys, balls, food and everything else Dada. She know some sign language and can sign "more" and "milk". That fact alone should tell you her priorities. She LOVES her bottle and is resistant to giving it up much to our chagrin. She didn't seem interested in table food but we found that she will happily eat it as long as it's something she likes, which appears to be avocados and any kind of bread. In some ways, we were slow to introducing her to finger foods because she had no teeth but she got her 1st chomper the week of her birthday. Marin is very clear when she doesn't want something. She'll push it right off her high chair and onto the floor. This is an indicator of her current personally. Since turning one she has been a happy girl but also has a stubborn streak in her. She has finally fallen into a great sleep/nap routine after some regressions and colds/illnesses and that has been a huge help with her disposition. Come to find out when you are not tired, you are a happy girl! Marin is observant and knows what she wants. She is not easily cajoled into doing anything that she doesn't want to do. I think she likes the independence of being able to get around which makes her happy. One of her favorite things to do is sit on our bed and look out the window onto the neighborhood. After she's done being a peeping Tom, she likes to sit up and then let herself fall back onto the covers. She does it over and over again. And I love hearing her laugh! It's hard to explain in words but her laugh makes me laugh. It's been a great year. Happy Birthday Marin! Mom, Dad and Katie love you very much! We celebrated Marin's 1st birthday with our family on March 26th. Here is THE BIG M cake and the invitation for her party. The smiling birthday girl. The Perusse ladies. Our family.
