We Are Winners

We are winners! I don't get to say that too often so I'll say it again. We are winners! The Strand, our local movie house, had a snowman contest. I had recently downloaded a photo that Chad took when he and Katie made the best looking Frosty ever! I sent it in and we were one of the winners. I have no idea if we actually won but I'll happily take the free tickets they sent. My stepmom went to see a movie last week and she was surpised to see Katie's face flash up on the big screen! I haven't seen it myself but I'm hoping it's still up by the time I catch my next flick. if you've never been to "The Historic Strand Theater" you should try it out. What I like about it is that you can have zucchini sticks and a beer while watching a movie in a throw-back setting. Where else can you do that? And we can walk there from Cedar Street! Bonus! Here are the tix! Here is the winning" photo! :)

Dear Ear Infection. Please Go Away. Far Away.

Poor Marin has her first ear infection and it's not going too well. We're on day 3 (or 4?). She seems to be sleeping well at night but her naps are rough. I'm hoping the medicine works fast. Chad and I (and my mom) are tag teaming to be home with her. I'm looking forward to the long weekend so we can relax and recover. I think she's on the mend. My sister Helen is a nursing student and gave her this t-shirt. Maybe Marin will grow up to be a nurse and help little babies with mean, old ear infections.

Daddy Daughter Dance

Katie and Chad went to the town's annual Daddy Daughter Dance. It was all the rage at daycare with the ladies so Katie wanted to go as well. She was very excited and it was adorable to see her all dressed up for the dance. Chad looked pretty sharp too! The corsage presentation. The formal portrait. Heading out the door in her fancy coat!

Dance Fever 2

Not to be outdone by Katie in the dancing department, here is Marin playing her piano...
...and when I asked her to dance, she lifted her leg and shook it! Shake your groove thing Marin!

Dance Fever

Here are some pictures from Katie's Big Show which concluded her latest class at The Little Gym. The class was 15 minutes of ballet, 15 minutes of tap and 30 minutes of gymnastics. The beginning of the ballet routine. Katie stepped forward from the line and started to shake it like she never has before (a least in the classes leading up to this performance.) Is this a solo performance? I guess the audience has inspired Katie to take the lead! On to more serious consideration of tap. Moving on to the gym, we saw her balancing on the beam and on the high bar. Nice pirouette!
A happy girl getting her medal!

10 Months

Marin at 10 months is really showing her love bug side. She can now give you a (very wet) kiss and blow you kisses. Her blowing a kiss is a fist with a loud "Mmmmwhaaaaa" after it but you get the point. She can how sign "more" which is helpful when you feed her. She loves to clap. Marin has added "baba", "nana" and FINALLY "mama" to her list of words she can say. We call her the tunneller because if there is any opportunity for her to go under a table, chair, etc, she'll do it.
When she is tired, she'll put her head down or lay down wherever she is. The other day, she was kind of tired while taking a bath and she decided to rest her head down on the water. The shock and surprise that one side of her head was all wet was enough to wake her up! Marin will take a break from playing to come over and give you a hug. She beelines it to the remote or phone any time she sees it.
She sleeps through the night (most nights) and goes to bed with her pacifier and her fuzzy bunny (a bunny/blanket). She can crawl up the entire staircase on her own. She can play by herself and her favorite toys are a yellow bus and a steering wheel. If you ask her to dance, she'll pick up a leg and shake it.
